For constructors
Klew is primarily a daily puzzle app, but we still support independent constructors who want to publish their own work.
Solvers come to Klew for our daily mini, midi, daily, and weekly puzzles. Constructor publishing is a secondary path, additive to the main feed, with the same tools and no fees.
By publishing, you agree to our Constructor Agreement
The problem
If you've ever submitted a crossword to a major outlet, this probably sounds familiar.
Submit a puzzle, wait 3 to 12 months, maybe hear back. Your work sits in a queue while you wonder.
Major outlets pay a flat fee and move on. Your puzzle gets solved millions of times. You never hear about it.
Editors rewrite clues, adjust grids, change your voice. The published puzzle may barely resemble what you submitted.
Solvers follow the publication, not the constructor. No profile, no followers, no direct relationship with your audience.
The solution
Grid editor with symmetry enforcement, real-time validation, autofill engine, clue editor, and auto-save. Build from any device with a browser.
See how many people solve your puzzles, read their ratings and reviews, and watch your audience grow over time.
A public constructor page with your bio, social links, published puzzles, follower count, and total solves. Solvers follow you, not us.
Non-exclusive license. Publish the same puzzle on your blog, in a book, with another app. Your intellectual property stays yours.
No editorial queue. Your puzzle passes automated quality checks and goes live immediately. You are the editor.
Export to .puz and .ipuz at any time. Import existing .puz files. Your puzzles are never locked into klew.
Compare
Yes. You grant klew a non-exclusive license to distribute your puzzle. You retain full copyright and can publish it anywhere else — your blog, another outlet, a book, wherever.
Yes. Klew is completely free for both constructors and solvers. No fees, no credit packs, no paywalls. Just publish your puzzles and share them with the community.
You can build directly in our web-based editor, or export to .puz and .ipuz formats. Import from .puz is also supported if you have existing puzzles you want to bring over.
No editorial gatekeeping. Your puzzle goes through an automated quality check (valid grid, all clues filled, symmetric grid) and then it's live. You're the editor.
Any size from 5x5 minis to 21x21 Sunday-size grids and everything in between. Themed, themeless, cryptic — whatever you want to build.
Build your first puzzle in minutes and share it with the community. Completely free.
